We’re taking the social life to new heights!
Between charity events, fundraisers, fashion shows, friends, family, and life in general, we know a socialites work is never done! The actual term “socialite” was coined in the 1925-30’s. It is a new day, and the new generation of socialites have emerged ranging from different colors, ethnicities, cultures, and backgrounds, but with the same ultimate goal as before; to give back, and to help those who cannot help themselves. Entertainment, parties, and fashion, is only a fraction of his/her lifestyle, and although great, being charitable tops her list. We know that the old saying is true, to whom much is given, much is required.
Our Socialite Spotlight Shines on Beyonce'
Fabulously Controversial
Whether you want to say that Beyonce has once again overstepped her boundaries in her upcoming shoot for L'Officiel Paris Magazine's 90th anniversary magazine cover, one cannot deny her undoubted beauty and finesse! It has been quite controversial, the idea of an African American subjecting themselves to black face yet who is to question what shade of black is beautiful! Let alone harnessing the negative instead of exuding the positive. We as black women, all shades, are beautiful, even though this concept is never in the media! What we see on television is rarely the likeness of us as black women. Furthermore, Beyonce projected a darker skin tone to project her African lineage and commemorate Nigerian legend Fela Kuti. Quite the controversy, I think not! Captivating and effervescent, I think so!
It takes someone undoubtedly in the public eye to show the public that black, is indeed beautiful and here to stay! Black face is part of our history of where African Americans come from, so instead of viewing it as a negative we should change it into something beautiful! Why run from who we are instead of embracing how far and where we have come. I think as women we need to band together and show our daughter the photographs, and explain that we must be bold and unforgotten!
