Dream Blow Out Bar Elevated

This isn’t your generic salon, nor is it even a salon.  It’s a Blow Out Bar, which recently opened at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills. Famed  hairstylist Sally Hershberger shows off her cool new 440-square-foot salon.

“I thought, ‘I don’t want to do what everyone else is doing,’” she said. “So I said, ‘Why don’t we call it a styling studio, so it’s more like you can get your hair done as though you’re going to be in a photo shoot.’”

That means, “more intricate blow-dries, curling irons, braids, major updos — anything you can think of,” she said. And because it’s staffed by hairstylists from the Sally Hershberger Los Angeles salon in West Hollywood, styles are “done by people who really do hair,” added Hershberger. The prices reflect the expertise. While local blowout chains typically charge in the realm of $35 for a blowout, Hershberger’s high-end styling studio will charge $85 and up for a blowout, and $150 and more for an updo. And the new outpost won’t be accepting walk-ins.

Hershberger, who first rose to prominence after crafting Meg Ryan’s much-copied shag haircut in the 1990s, said she’s been approached by dozens of people over the years to open a smaller salon concept, but finally said yes to SLS because, simply, “They’re high-end. [Others] just weren’t the right alignment with my brand. The SLS has a cooler vibe.”

I had my hair cut, colored and styled on Rodeo Drive and ladies I can promise you it’s worth every dollar. Expensive yes, but the outcome is amazing. Blow out bars seem to be all the rage right now, have you been to one? I have not, but looking forward to experiencing it!
